Smelly mess
The sewer infrastructure in rural Mgedegede was vandalised over the weekend

The sewer infrastructure in rural Mgedegede was vandalised over the weekend of October 24 to 26, leaving an awful stench in the air.
In a press release the KwaDukuza district municipality (KDM) said an attendant at the industrial pump station in Maurice Perry road became suspicious on Monday morning when he noticed there was no sewage coming through to the station. An investigation revealed that a 24 meter long section of the sewer pipe between Ntshawini and Glenhills was stolen.
KDM is busy carrying out repairs, including replacing the stolen pipe and disinfecting the surrounding area and the tributary that flows into the Ntshawini river.
Fortunately no residents are affected as the nearest houses are three kilometers from the spillage.
