Protest! KwaDukuza exam venues too far away

Students say they cannot afford to travel to exam venues.

Adult basic education and training teachers and iLembe district students are picketing at SADTU park because they are unhappy with their new examination venues.

“We used to write our exams at the same centers we attend classes at but now the education department wants us to go to a certain center and write there,” said Ezindlovini center manager, Kenneth Maphumulo.

Some of the assigned examination centers are far from students’ homes and they say they are unable to afford the additional cost of travelling.

Protesters said the exams are scheduled to start on Tuesday November 4 but they refuse to lift a pen until the issue has been resolved.
