Furever volleyball helps pets in need
Non-profit pet rescue host volleyball event for fundraising.
Summer really kicked in on Sunday, November 9 at Salmon Bay Beach, just in time for the regular Furever volleyball event.
The Rockin’ Rotties, Coastal Cats, Burmese Bombers and Smokin’ Schnauzers were sweating away playing fun, but competitive volleyball games, while the spectators relaxed on bean bags under a gazebo, enjoying cold drinks.
Sound great? It was and it was all for a good cause. The non-profit company, Furever Pet Rescue, was started by Ian Blignaut and Cheryl Herda and is a North Coast based organisation helping unwanted and abandoned dogs and cats to find a forever home.
“The rescued pets are medically treated, if necessary, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and live in a foster home until they find their new family,” said Blignaut.
“We are always in need of volunteers to help foster the pets, which is usually a 1-2 month process,” added Herda.
Diesel, a young, playful and lovable large cross-breed, is one of the dogs currently looking for a furever home.

A total of 21 people entered the competition and many of them walked away with great prizes sponsored by Oriental Concepts, Fiamma Grill and Mica.
Although it was an enjoyable day for everyone involved, only R2964.63 was raised.
