Get used to more stopping than going on Ballito Drive for the next month.
Ballito Drive has been a go slow road for a long time, much to the dismay of the locals, but today marked a new meaning of the term “stop and go”.
With the start of the long awaited Rage Festival, matrics have been flocking into Ballito today wearing kort broeks and carrying six packs.
Drivers have reported waits long as one hour in stop-go traffic from the N2 into Ballito.
“Traffic is manic as holiday makers are arriving and there are no pointsmen to be seen,” said Ballito resident Jacky Jackson.
Pointsmen are on duty during peak traffic times, but it seems that they might be needed throughout the day.
“Roadworks are going to schedule and by December 12, two lanes on either side will be open and functioning and pointsmen will be on duty throughout the day”, said Ballito councillor, Colin Marsh.
There are no plans to get points men during the day before the 12th.
