Cops corner drunk drivers

KwaDukuza traffic continues with booze blocks.

Last weekend KwaDukuza traffic arrested 36 people for driving over the legal limit, including two truck drivers that were five times over.

A huge road block in Ballito close to Waterberry’s caught seven drunken drivers on Friday night, November 28.

KwaDukuza’s Assistant Traffic Director Johnny Moodley said the drivers were far over the legal limit of 0,24.

“Those drivers were immediately arrested while eight other drivers were on the borderline of the limit, so we made them wait there until their alcohol levels dropped way below the legal amount,” said Moodley.

Moodley said they caught another 21 drivers in Stanger.

“Nineteen of those were light motor vehicles, while we arrested two truck drivers that were five times over the legal limit.

“We will continue to carry out road blocks during the festive season since there are a lot of accidents that happen during this time.”
