The Hazelmere Dam levels have dropped to 40% and Sembcorp Siza Water informed consumers that planned water interruptions will be implemented on the Dolphin Coast, starting this Friday evening.
Siza water’s public relations officer Khosi Mathenjwa said an SMS was sent to consumers this morning indicating that daily interruptions will take place from December 5 from 9pm at night to 5am the next morning.
“We have been given a mandate by Umgeni Water to reduce the demand for water by at least 30% and thus far only a saving of approximately 19% has been achieved,” she said.
She said if this measure does not meet the required curtailment, they will be forced to continue with further shutdowns during the day.
“Consumers may also experience lower pressure and interruptions to supply without notice in our effort to achieve the curtailments needed to ensure we prolong the storage of the Hazelmere Dam,” said Mathenjwa.
