An Eastern Cape man was arrested after he was found in possession of dagga worth R400 in KwaDukuza last Friday morning.
Police believe that the 23-year-old intended selling the drug in the town.
“When he was caught, he had some dagga wrapped and ready to be sold and he was carrying another plastic bag full of dagga,’’ said KwaDukuza SAPS station commander Colonel Bheki Zondi.
Twelve foreigners without passports, believed to be illegal immigrants, were arrested as well as another seven people arrested for drinking in public and one for piracy.
Later on Friday, police conducted roadblocks on the R74 to Maphumulo and in Balcomb Street, in which 18 drivers were arrested for drinking and driving.
On Saturday they conducted roadblocks atthe M4 Umhlali off ramp and R102 Glendale turn off and 17 drivers were arrested for drinking and driving.
KwaDukuza SAPS and traffic and crime prevention said the roadblocks would continue until the end of the festive season.
