A seven-year-old girl who went missing in Upper Tongaat on November 20 has been found.
The Courier reported on November 26 that Ntombifuthi Sithole was visiting her mother in Upper Tongaat when she went missing.
The girl had been living with her father in KwaDukuza and was believed to have embarked on the long walk home from her mother’s house on her own accord.
Umhlali SAPS investigating officer Detective Warrant Officer Vishal Chain said sometime after the article appeared on the Courier website, a community member who recognised Sithole walking in the Ntshawini area, called the KwaDukuza SAPS who positively identified the child as Sithole.
The child was handed over to social workers.
It is believed that the child may be mentally challenged and social workers are assessing her case.
