Fans for the new school year
Chaka's Rock Chalets help out at Zilungisele Primary School.
The pupils of Zilungisele Primary School now have ceiling fans in their classrooms.
Chaka’s Rock Chalets, of Chaka’s Rock, celebrated a Christmas meal and donated the fans to the 700-strong school on Wednesday December 3.
Teacher Salome Chetty said that although they have not received much assistance to help them renovate, they do their best to help their pupils receive the best quality education possible.
“I have seen the many needs of the school and the most urgent one being good infrastructure for the pupils,” said Chetty.
The school has classes from grade R to grade 9 and has been in existence for 40 years.
Most of the pupils are orphans and/or come from underprivileged families. It was also treated to a Christmas meal.
“The school has an old building they would like to renovate and use as an art room.
I would like to encourage other hospitality establishments to visit the school and lend a hand,” said Chaka’s Rock Chalets resort manager Beverly Hiralall.
