Chill your toes with Ballito’s own flip flops
Flip flops made in Ballito to serve as fundraising for schools.
A former teacher is helping schools across the country with an exciting fundraising initiative of fashion forward, comfortable flip flops.
Chilloes flip flops is new in town and soon more school pupils will be able to ‘chill their toes’ with this proudly Ballito brand.
Shani Joubert, a teacher of 13 years moved to Ballito last year and said she knows that schools are always in need of funds.
“Public schools or any school for that matter always struggle with fundraising,” said Joubert.
She taught Economics and Business Studies to matrics in Phalaborwa in Limpopo, where she was in charge of fundraising.
“Parents get tired of giving money the whole time and not seeing the end result. That is when I got the idea of flip flops.”
She said flip flops was something that all the children wear and now parents could pay the money and receive something for them and their child.
The first designs for Chilloes flip flops was inspired by Joubert’s own matric pupils.
But now that enthusiasm for the product has shot through the roof, Joubert employed a designer to create fashionable flip flops following the latest trends.
“It started growing so quickly and then a friend of mine suggested going bigger and selling the flip flops in retail shops!”
One month later and you can now get your own pair of Chilloes at the Sasol garage and Fashion Frenzy at Tiffany’s in Salt Rock and at Groundswell and Surfers in Ballito.
Joubert said she was overwhelmed with the response and support from Ballito and schools across the country.
If a school requests a Chilloes fundraiser the pupils order flip flops at a discounted price and the school gets a percentage of the sale (R25 for each pair sold).
“It is such an easy project because we go to the school, give them everything and we do all the work. They just have to send us the order forms.”
The kids can choose the size, base and straps for each pair and add bling to their order with removable clips that click onto the strap.
When ordering two pairs of Chilloes they come packaged in a funky pencil case.
