No power due to fault

There is no load shedding taking place at this stage.

Last night, January 8, residents complained about having no power in the Salt Rock area.

This was however not due to load shedding.

Electrical engineer Nick Hall from KwaDukuza Technical Services said there was a fault in the overhead line.

“We had to switch off the power to repair the fault. The power was restored not long thereafter,” said Hall.

He said the areas that were affected were Salt Rock, Sheffield and Chakas Rock.

Meanwhile in terms of load shedding, Eskom announced yesterday that the risk of load shedding is expected to be low to medium until schools reopen.

The national power utility lost 1200 megawatts of generating capacity on Tuesday, January 7 and the risk of load shedding increased, but by the afternoon the generators were restored.
