Vigilantes murder two alleged criminals

Police urge residents to not take the law in their own hands.

The people of Melville, Umgababa area, took the law into their own hands on Sunday, beating to death two alleged criminals.

The men were accused of house-breaking and robbing people in the area.

One was killed in the morning and the other in the afternoon.

KwaDukuza SAPS spokesperson Johannes Khoza urged residents to not resort to vigilante action.

“There have not been any arrests yet and we appeal to the community to please come forward if they have some information that will help with the murder cases.

“We need the community to work hand in hand with the police to fight crime, but it is a crime to murder no matter what the person is accused of,” said Khoza.
