While details remain sketchy it is believed the early morning shootout in Stanger Manor was a hit on the Maphumulo Taxi Association, although the motive for the incident is unknown.

The shooting took place just after 6am this morning.

IPSS Medical Rescue paramedic Paul Herbst confirmed that one man was shot and killed in Primrose Street, while two others were critical with a gunshot wound to the head and leg respectively.

It is believed that one of the injured is a taxi owner of the Maphumulo Taxi Association and the other is a security guard. They are being treated at Stanger Hospital.

Reports suggest that a second person has died but this has yet to be confirmed.
