Taxi security guards to appear in court

Drive-by shooting suspects arrested.

Durban organised Crime Unit arrested two taxi security guards in KwaDukuza (Stanger) for attempted murder on Monday.

The arrest is in connection with the shooting of a 52-year-old male and his 46-year-old brother who were travelling on King Shaka Street towards Shell Garage on January 11.

The two men were shot at and wounded by someone driving by in a Toyota Hilux.

One man was shot in his abdomen and the second suffered bullet wounds to his back and leg. They were taken to Stanger Hospital.

KwaZulu Natal SAPS spokesperson Thulani Zwane said the motive of that attack is still unknown at this stage.

“The suspects aged 36 and 38 years will appear at KwaDukuza Magistrates Court today,” said Zwane.

The KZN Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni praised police for the arrests.

“We condemned these unnecessary attacks in the KwaDukuza area and we will do everything in our power to bring those responsible to book,” she said.
