An armed robbery of a cash in transit vehicle at Mandeni Mall on Monday afternoon resulted in the death of a security guard and two others were seriously injured.
IPSS Medical Rescue were called out to a shooting in progress at the shopping centre.
It is believed that four armed men opened fire on two security guards as they were exiting a shop after collecting money.
“The two guards were shot and was in a critical condition and transported to hospital by IPSS Medical Rescue’s advanced life support paramedic,” said paramedic Paul Herbst.
A third security guard from the mall was fatally wounded in the crossfire and died on arrival at the hospital.
“One of the security guards was later airlifted to another facility for further care,” said Herbst.
The suspects got away with an undisclosed amount of money.
