Ballito flip-flops take schools by storm

Ballito’s own flip flop brand, Chilloes, hit the schools market with a bang during their recent Limpopo and Mpumalanga roadshow.

Chilloes creator Shani Joubert said she was overwhelmed by the support from the schools.

“The reaction from the schools to the roadshow has been so positive. It’s really been going very well,” said Joubert.

If a school requests a Chilloes fundraiser the pupils order flip flops at a discounted price and the school gets a percentage of the sale (R25 for each pair sold).

Joubert, being a former teacher herself, developed this idea to help schools with raising funds for projects and school tours.

“It is such an easy project because we go to the school, give them everything and we do all the work. They just have to send us the order forms,” she said.

The pupils can choose the size, base and straps for each pair and add bling to their order with removable clips that click onto the strap.

All this arrives in a funky pencil case.

The Chilloes brand embarked on a roadshow to schools in the Limpopo and Mpumalanga area to promote the flip-flops.

It has been such a hit and Joubert had already received the first order forms from the schools last week.

“Even the smaller schools that we visited brought in some big orders. Everyone is very excited and we have already got lined up another eight schools that are interested in the roadshow,” said Joubert.

She said she was really happy with the response, bearing in mind that the roadshow only kicked off this month.

“The new stock will arrive soon and we want to get the orders out to the schools as soon as possible,” said Joubert.

There are also a bunch of new designs fro the flip flops to look forward to.

“We are working on a local roadshow so we can’t wait to see which North Coast schools will come on board. It’s open to any school!”

New accessories for the flip-flops will also hit retail stores in April.
