Consumers were taken aback when Eskom announced they will be implementing stage two load shedding today from 4pm to 10pm.

Eskom tweeted the announcement just after 2pm and reminded people that they are only implementing load shedding as a last resort to protect the power system.

There were some angry tweets that followed the announcement:

Ballito and Tongaat will be relieved to hear that the area’s stage two load shedding time was scheduled for earlier today and therefore will not experience any power blackouts today.

This can unfortunately not be said for Umdloti, whose power will most likely be switched off from 4pm to 6pm.
