Shakaville teacher arrested for rape

Teacher will appear in court again on April 1.

An eighth grade Zulu teacher from Tshelenkosi Secondary School in Shakaville was arrested on Tuesday afternoon for allegedly raping a grade 12 pupil at the school.

The teacher appeared at the Stanger Magistrate court on Thursday, March 26 on charges of rape and sexual assault.

He will appear in court again on April 1 for a bail application.

The spokesperson for the Ilembe Education department, Muzi Mahlabi, said the teacher will be suspended.

“As soon as we receive all the details about the teacher, the department will suspend him immediately pending a disciplinary hearing,” said Mahlabi.
