Give 67 minutes of your time this Mandela Day
What will you be doing for Mandela Day?

Mandela Day on Saturday, July 18, is to be marked by many organisations on the North Coast with a full programme of activities.
Throughout the week there will be many opportunities to give back to the community and contribute 67 minutes to remembering the legacy of the New South Africa’s first president.
Here is what the following local organisations will be doing:
Netcare Alberlito, in partnership with Imbizo gallery, will be hosting an ‘Auction for a Cause’ on Thursday, July 16.
Ballito artists Stephen van der Schyff and Josee Pelser have donated paintings that will be auctioned to raise funds for an orphanage in Lindelani, run by Rose Zwane. It is a safe-house and home for orphans that also operates a soup kitchen. The funds raised by the auction will help the orphanage to improve facilities and expand in order to house more children.
The auction starts at 5.30pm and is being held at the Imbizo gallery in the Lifestyle Centre.
Tongaat Child and Family Welfare Society is launching a week’s program of “6 to 7 days for 67 minutes”.
Throughout the week, a number of activities will be taking place, assisting vulnerable and underprivileged members of the Tongaat community.
On Monday and Tuesday, a picnic with children from Haven of Rest Home was organised as well as a programme distributing mealie meal porridge.
For the remainder of the week there will be food, blanket and scarf distributions as well as many fun activities.
To find out more details about the week’s programme or for donations towards the organisation’s 670 blankets initiative, contact Fee Dawood, Nireshnee Moodley and Miriam Mkhize on 032-9441514.
Hirsch Ballito and Sugar Dance are hosting 67 minutes of Zumba dancing.
The entry fee included to take part in the activity will be to bring along exercise books and stationary to be donated to underprivileged schools along the North Coast. This will be held on Friday, July 17, from 6pm to 7pm at Hirsch Ballito. Bookings must be placed with Lindy on 032-9467400.
Last but definitely not least, the Dolphin Coast SPCA will try and build a wall of cans and a mountain of dry pet food for 67 minutes on Friday, July 17 so join them or just drop off your donation at the Dolphin Coast SPCA.
