KDM vehicle crash in Ballito

Driver was allegedly found to be over the legal limit.

A driver that was allegedly under the influence crashed a KwaDukuza Municipality (KDM) vehicle into a lamp post in Zen Drive, Ballito on Friday morning.

A resident, who saw the vehicle drive off after hitting the lamp post, alerted the authorities.

The vehicle was spotted at the Caltex garage in Ballito and JP Viljoen from Viva Security followed the vehicle to the Salt Rock library.

KDM traffic and Umhlali SAPS arrived and according to Viljoen, a breathalyser test allegedly found that the driver was over the legal limit.

The driver was detained for further blood tests and the vehicle, which had a blown out tyre, was impounded.
