Shut out the elements, let in the light

Ballito resident, Grant Wilson has turned the practical solution to making his own patio a pleasant place to relax regardless of the weather, into a business.

The aesthetic and durable answer to enclosing a patio, or deck for protection from rain, wind and sun, is beautifully crafted, wooden shutters and doors from GK Shutters situated at Imbonini in Shaka’s Head.

Ballito resident, Grant Wilson has turned the practical solution to making his own patio a pleasant place to relax regardless of the weather, into a business.

“After working from home for some time, I ran out of space and thought it a good time to get a factory and take this versatile product to the market. We manufacture ourselves and are not simply re-sellers,” said Wilson who confessed to being a perfectionist and therefore personally inspects each order.

The shutters are made from cedar wood which inherently has good decay resistance, it is also light and not prone to twisting and warping.

“We also use sealers which enhance the wood’s resistance and overall appeal. Other components are all weather resistant, and sourced from Denmark.”

The shutters and doors are custom-made or standard size (2,1m high, 1m wide) and the louvers can be horizontal or vertical.

The shutters can be used on patios, verandas and used as privacy screens around the pool.

Wilson’s staff include, Heather Bundy, Ozzie Vorwerk and Treasure (aka Thamsanqa Qwabe).
