A visa-free honeymoon for every budget

Whether it is sipping cocktails in your private water villa or relaxing in a jacuzzi surrounded by tropical flowers - there is a honeymoon for all tastes and budgets

After months of stress to make your wedding day perfect, the last thing you want to deal with is the endless paperwork and queues to get a visa for your much-needed honeymoon.

Pentravel marketing project manager, Sianna Book gives her expert tips to help you make your honeymoon not only a dream come true, but also a good match for your budget and completely visa free for us green mamba folk.

“Before choosing where you want to go and how much you want/can spend, you need to decide if you want to soak up the sun, sip on fruity cocktails and enjoy some snorkeling or if you are looking for more of an active, adventure of a honeymoon.” said Book.

Mauritius on a lean piggy bank

Beachcomber resorts will leave you mesmerised.

Don’t think your honeymoon dreams have been shattered and that you are doomed to yet another weekend away in the berg if you only have a few coins left rattling at the bottom of your lean piggy bank after the wedding.

Mauritius might seem extravagant when the purse strings are tight, but Book said it can be done on a shoe string budget if you know where to go.

“Beachcomber, for instance, offers a great deal whereby the bride pays half price AND both the bride and groom get free lunch daily as well as a welcome French champagne and fruit platter, gift vouchers per person for the Beachcomber Boutique and a romantic candlelight dinner during your stay.

“All of this could cost you as little as R15 000 per person for a five night stay from Durban,” said Book.

Chilled vibes in Phuket

While lots of honeymooners pick Phuket because it is such an affordable option, Book warns not to go for the cheapest package on the market.

“Rather go for a hotel in a quieter area like Karon. A favourite is the charming, four-star The Old Phuket Resort which oozes character.

“You could head there for a week from Durban for around R12 000 per person, which in an absolute steal!”

High life in the Maldives

Enjoy luxury beach life at its best on your own private island – this is an experience that you just cannot put money on.

“One of our favourites is a stay at Club Meds Kani resort which has incredible accommodation. Upgrade to a private water villa and be the absolute envy of all your friends and family!

“Your taste buds will be on honeymoon too, as everything is delicious – I’m talking out of this world food, and great entertainment as well. You can snorkel alongside turtles or sail your own boat, the memories all start here.”

For just over R30 000 per person you could make this honeymoon dream a reality.

Make sure, however, that you go for the all inclusive package here, as this resort is alone on the isalnd, so going anything less than all inclusive is going to call for additional costs you might not have budgeted for.
