WATCH: 500 strong DA crime march to KwaDukuza SAPS
Both the ANC and DA marched for a common cause on separate days this weekend.
The DA and ANC in Stanger are rallying for a common cause – to decrease the crime rate in KwaDukuza.
About 300 ANC members took to the streets on Friday, demanding that police take action against crime, corruption and drug abuse.
The party march was held a day before the DA’s anti-crime march to KwaDukuza SAPS after member of parliament Dean Macpherspon found that the station had a 1.4 per cent conviction rate for murder, robberies and rape and a zero per cent conviction rate for hijacking.

This morning (Saturday) more than 500 DA party members marched to KwaDukuza SAPS to hand over a memorandum which demanded that police take better care of the community.

Addressing the crowd, DA member of parliament John Steenhuisen said enough was enough.
“Stanger is a very good example of just how this government is failing the people.
“A 1.4 per cent conviction rate for crime means that for all the crime reported, only 1.4 per cent of those people ever go to jail.
“In Stanger, crime pays because you have a 95 percent chance of getting away because this station cannot fight crime, cannot catch people who commit crime and cannot convict people when they do catch them.”
Accepting the DA’s memorandum, station commander brigadier Sbongile Mhlongo said she would relay the DA’s message to the provincial commissioner.
