We chatted to Noelle about their love story:
How did your love story begin?
We met in 2013 at a family function as my cousin was dating Sholan’s sister. We had just finished school and were not really looking for anything serious. We became firm friends and maintained our friendship for a number of years. Sholan became my best friend and in 2017 we helped each other through some challenging times. It was during this dark period in our lives that things evolved and we crossed the friendship line into something deeper. We knew then that this would not just be another casual relationship.
Tell us about the proposal?
In December 2017 we took a trip to Cape Town and on New Year’s eve, Sholan asked me to be his life partner. Two months after that on Valentine’s day I came home from work to find my apartment filled with rose petals and flowers and Sholan on bended knee. He proposed that night and a year and two days later we were married.
Which song played when you walked down the aisle?
Wifey from contemporary R&B group Next.
Finish the sentence: Love is…
… Patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. it does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking and it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs and love never fails. This sums up exactly what love means to us.
Getting married to my partner was…
Amazing. I got to marry my soul mate and my best friend.
