Child (7) drowns at Tongaat public pool

The child was swimming at the Belvedere swimming pool this afternoon.

Tragedy struck earlier today when a seven-year-old boy drowned in a public swimming pool in Tongaat.

The child was swimming at the Belvedere swimming pool this afternoon.

The child’s parents were not at the scene when the drowning occured, said paramedics.

”When he was taken out of the water by the lifeguards he was already not breathing and advanced life-support paramedics tried to help but it was too late, ” said Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst.
