UPDATE: Child kidnapped in Mandeni found in Eastern Cape

The alleged kidnapper was arrested in Durban yesterday.

The seven-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped on Wednesday from a Mandeni School was found last night.

Esihle Mthethwa was found in a homestead in Matatiele in the Eastern Cape by the Ilembe cluster task team, detectives from the Sundumbili police station and Hawks protection services.

The woman who is accused of kidnapping the girl was first arrested by police in Durban and further investigation led to the child’s location.

The girl has been reunited with her family and the woman detained at the Sundumbili Police Station.

Esihle was allegedly kidnapped from her classroom at Mbewenhle Primary School.

The kidnapper later demanded a ransom of R61 000 from the child’s mother, Nondumiso Sikhakhane.
