Stage two loadshedding implemented to avoid total collapse of power grid

Eskom said that the unplanned breakdowns have exceeded the 10 500MW limit.

Eskom has announced that stage two loadshedding will take place today from 4pm through to 11pm tonight.

Stage two loadshedding was implemented today after the struggling power utility experienced unplanned breakdowns.

“We have experienced a loss of additional generation capacity,” read a statement issued by Eskom.

It was added that there was no other alternative but to implement stage two loadshedding in order to avoid a total collapse of the power grid.

Eskom said that the unplanned breakdowns have exceeded the 10 500MW limit.

An appeal was made to South Africans that electricity be used sparingly.

Loadshedding Times:

Both the Ballito Southern and Northern grids will be offline from 6pm to 8.30pm

No loadshedding is expected in Tongaat.

Mandeni is set to experience loadshedding from 8pm to 10.30pm.
