Search continues for missing boy (10) at Umvoti River

The boy reportedly went into the river to escape the heat.

A young boy went missing after swimming in the Umvoti River yesterday, December 21.

SAPS K9 search and rescue together with IPSS Medical Rescue and police divers began the search to find the boy who reportedly went into the river to escape the heat.

According to Dylan Meyrick of IPSS Medical Rescue, the IPSS Aquatic Rescue team is on site to assist.

“The area of the river being searched is close to Melville,” said Meyrick.

The search was called off in the late afternoon due to thunder and lightning and is set to continue today, December 22.
