Horrific crash near KwaDukuza kills two

A Toyota Corolla carrying two Department of Health employees was ripped into two.

A collision between two vehicles on the N2 freeway near the KwaDukuza off-ramp claimed the lives of two people this afternoon.

They were travelling in a Toyota Corolla branded by the Health Department.

The other car was a VW Golf.

The Department of Health vehicle that was torn in two.

According to eyewitness reports, one the vehicles hit a wet patch and lost control, colliding with the other vehicle.

Acting mayor of KwaDukuza Dolly Govender was on scene to find out what had happened.

“It is such a shame that this incident resulted in the deaths of two people,” said Govender.

The Toyota Corolla carrying the two Department of Health employees was ripped into two pieces on impact, with one half of the vehicle landing over 100 metres from the original vehicle.

The driver of the Volkswagen Golf was injured and treated by paramedics.

Drivers are urged to slow down in wet weather and drive carefully.
