Calling men to join the trauma centre
The centre obtains help in training from various organisations, including the Open Door Crisis Centre in Durban.
Men are encouraged to join the volunteers who offer free counselling at the Victim Friendly Centre at Umhlali Police Station.
Nina McNeil, supervisor and trainer at the centre, told the Men for Change breakfast at The Waterberry Coffee Shop on Friday that the idea was to challenge men in all spheres to get involved to make a difference.

“We get a lot of traumatised men, women and children at the centre and we believe that some of them might prefer to speak to a male counsellor. This will help in ensuring we provide a confidential and safe environment,” said McNeil.
