Mandeni girl’s body found in sugarcane

Mandeni mayor Thabani Mdlalose led a prayer for Sinenhlanhla's safe return at Macambini last Tuesday.

A 12-year old girl was found dead in a sugar cane field near Mandeni on Tuesday afternoon – two months after another young girl was murdered.

Sinenhlanhla Angel Ngidi went missing on September 27.

Ngidi attended a traditional ceremony at her father’s homestead in Macambini, Nsunduzane area, and failed to return home.

Realising that she was missing, residents searched nearby cane fields last Saturday and found her clothes, but no trace of her.

Mandeni mayor Thabani Mdlalose led a prayer for Sinenhlanhla’s safe return at Macambini last Tuesday.

“We request even the relatives of the perpetrators to help us find the child and arrest the selfish culprits. Whoever they are, they do not deserve to live with the people.

“We are also calling upon the Lord Almighty to help the Ngidi family and the community to find the child” said Mdlalose.

This is the second recent incident at Macambini.

Two months ago an 11-year-old girl was murdered.
