Beach braai turns tragic as man drowns at Tinley Manor

Beach visitors are urged not to swim at unprotected beaches.

The body of the 33-year-old man who drowned at an unprotected beach at Tinley Manor Beach yesterday afternoon has not yet been found.

KwaDukuza lifeguard superintendent Bongani Xulu said the man had been having a braai with a colleague when he decided to go for a swim.

“He got into trouble while swimming and despite our efforts his body has not been found.

“There was a search for him yesterday and today we had to do a land search because the surf conditions were not on our side, so we could not go into the water,” said Xulu.
