KwaDukuza wins best website at KZN local government communicators awards

Provincial director for government communication and information systems (GCIS), Ndala Mngadi commended the KDM team.

The KwaDukuza municipality communications team won ‘Best Website’ at the KZN local government communicators awards held at Jozini Tiger Lodge last Thursday.

KwaDukuza was competing against municipalities across the province including eThekwini metropolitan municipality, who took the best social media award while City of Umhlathuzi won the best brand identity award.

Provincial director for government communication and information systems (GCIS), Ndala Mngadi commended the KDM team on its win and said the judges evaluated the websites for technological advancement, helpfulness, ease of navigation and interactivity.

“It pleases us greatly to see municipalities getting such awards, especially in a year when we are faced with the Covid-19 pandemic and many people rely on digital platforms to connect with government.

“We hope that KwaDukuza will keep up the excellent work and that other municipalities will learn from their good practice.”

This is not the first win for the KwaDukuza. In 2018 the corporate communications department were awarded the Best Media Liaison Support to the District.

The awards ceremony is organized annually by GCIS and the South African Local Government Association.

KDM mayor, Dolly Govender said: “We wish to congratulate the communications department for their outstanding achievement. They must keep up the good work.”
