#Update: Electricians hope to have Salt Rock lit up this evening
A cable fault at Shad Lane and the Mall 505 mini substations has seen the area plunged into darkness since last night.

Electricians working to restore power to the majority of Salt Rock are hoping to complete the task by 6pm this evening.
A cable fault at Shad Lane and the Mall 505 mini substations has seen the area plunged into darkness since last night.
Salt Rock ward councillor, Privi Makhan reports that she has met with the repair crew and that they were working on the remaining two high voltage joints opposite the Caltex fuel station at Salt Rock.
Excess water and mud had proved a challenge in getting to the cables and effecting repairs.

The majority of Salt Rock has been without electricity since last night, due to cable fault at the Shad Lane and Mall 505 mini substations.
Ward 22 councillor Privi Makhan, said power was expected to return in the next 7 hours.
”Last night at 9.30pm a large part of the ward had their electricity supply interrupted but I can confirm that electricians are on site repairing the 2 cable faults, ” said Makhan.
Affected areas are parts of Salt Rock including, Hugh Dent, Mdoni Valley, up to the Main road of Chaka’s Rock.
