Three dead and 24 injured in horrific crash near Tugela Bridge

Traffic came to a stand still this morning on the N2 near Tugela Bridge where a light delivery vehicle and truck were involved in a collision.

Three people died in an accident on the N2 near the Tugela Bridge this morning where a light delivery vehicle and truck collided.

The accident brought traffic to a stand-still as emergency teams worked to treat the injured.

According to Netcare 911 spokesperson, Shawn Herbst, a further 24 people were injured in the accident, 6 of which were seriously injured.

It is unclear how many of the injured were being carried by the light delivery vehicle prior to the collision.

“Due to the nature of one of the patient’s injuries a helicopter air ambulance was called to airlift the critically injured patient to hospital,” he said.

The remaining injured were treated at the scene of the accident and taken to hospital for further treatment.
