Diver hunting crayfish drowns at Westbrook

The man experienced difficulty and disappeared from sight, according to his dive partner.

A diver died this morning after getting into difficulty while crayfishing off Westbrook beach.

The man and his dive partner were out at around 8am when it is reported that he disappeared from sight, according to Netcare 911.

Following the disappearance, a search was initiated and his body was located with the help of local authorities.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst said advanced life support resuscitation was initiated but without response.
