The 28-year-old woman went missing in Upper Tongaat on Friday, August 27.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested in Salt Rock for allegedly kidnapping a female doctor on Monday.

The man was found driving a car belonging to Dr Ayanda Dlamini of Umlazi and when police questioned him, he said Dr Dlamini was staying at a lodge nearby.

He led the police to the lodge where Dr Dlamini claimed she was being held against her will.

The 28-year-old woman went missing in Upper Tongaat on Friday, August 27.

It is alleged that Dr Dlamini stopped in Upper Tongaat to request directions from a passerby when the man approached her and offered to assist her with directions.

She told police that the man had jumped into her vehicle and taken her around KwaDukuza before bringing her to Salt Rock.

KZN police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala confirmed that charges of kidnapping and robbery had been opened at Umhlali police station.

“The victim’s vehicle was spotted at Salt Rock under Umhlali policing area and it was stopped. The suspect will appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.”
