The provincial health department said that the number of cases recorded in the past 7 days averaged around 2 347 per day, decreasing from the previous average of 3 442.

The latest figures from the national health department show that country-wide 5 931 new cases of Covid-19 had been reported as of Sunday, September 5, with 2 525 new cases recorded in KwaZulu-Natal on September 4.

KwaZulu-Natal is said to rank third in the country with the highest number of laboratory-confirmed cases countrywide.
