South Africa accounts for nearly 7.2 million complete vaccinations across the globe’s combined 2.36 billion people who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

According to data tracking platform, Our World in Data, South Africa on September 12 recorded a combined 10.7 million people who had received one dose of the vaccine to date.

12.3% of South Africans have been fully vaccinated.

To date, 2, 496, 566 vaccines have been administered in KwaZulu-Natal. Gauteng is leading the way (3, 885, 206 vaccines administered), KZN is in 2nd place and Western Cape is just behind in 3rd (2, 460, 928).

KZN on Monday recorded 1 105 new cases of Covid-19 as the province continues to rank third in the country in terms of laboratory-confirmed cases.

The provincial health department said the 7-day average continued to show a decline. Cases decreased from 2 743 to 1 349 per day.

Since the advent of Covid-19 within the country, iLembe district had recorded 30 657 cases, 726 Covid-19-related deaths and 26 079 recoveries.

KwaDukuza has recorded 9 654 confirmed cases since March 2020.
