Cocktails and glamour as Miss Ballito’s finalists present sponsors

The Miss Ballito pageant is a fundraiser for Rotary Zimbali, raising more than R700 000 since its inception.

The Miss Ballito’s cocktail evening splashed glamour onto the North Coast social scene last week.

Miss Ballito finalists Samkelisiwe Cele and Candice Doorasamy, with one of their sponsors, Khosi Mathenjwa from Siza Water.

About 100 people watched the 9 finalists present their sponsors at the vibrant event at Marigold Restaurant in the Ballito Business Park, enjoying the opportunity to dress up again after almost 2 years without social events.

The Miss Ballito pageant is a fundraiser for Rotary Zimbali, raising more than R700 000 since its inception.

Of the funds raised each year, 60% is donated to Rotary, which is then ploughed into local charity work.

Suitably dressed as supporters for finalist Sibahle Makhanya were Zinhle Khamanga, Fortunate Khamanga and Nozipho Khuzwayo.

“I want to say a huge thank you to this incredible community. We have had more sponsors this year than at any time in the last 10,” said Miss Ballito co-ordinator, Heidie Smith.

Finalists, Megan Lane and Katelyn Weston showed no signs of nerves as the evening started.

Miss Ballito 2021 will be crowned on October 15.
