More than 27% of KZN has been vaccinated [Vaccination sites in KwaDukuza and Tongaat, 27 September to 1 October]

KwaZulu-Natal at the weekend was leading in second place with the number of vaccines administered countrywide, with 2 529 vaccinations on Sunday alone.

Some 9 419 vaccinations were administered on Sunday across the country, with Gauteng leading the way at 4 126.

Pfizer continues to be the more popular vaccine, with 1 099 first doses of the vaccine being administered and 830 second doses being given – Johnson and Johnson vaccines administered amounted to 600.

Nationally, more than 16 827 790 vaccines have been administered to date with 12 167 782 people fully vaccinated.

The health department said 30.57% of South Africa’s adult population – 18 and older – has been vaccinated.

In KwaZulu-Natal, this amounts to 27.47% of the population, some 1 982 941.

The 7-day average, in KZN, has also continued to decline from 2 743 new Covid-19 cases being reported per day, to some 522 cases, since the start of September.

The provincial health department noted a ‘remarkable decline’ over weekends, with daily hospital isolations also on the decrease in public and private intensive care units.

Tongaat

• Tongaat Indoor Sorts centre: Monday – Friday, 8am – 4pm
• Mediclinic Victoria: 8am to 2pm, this Saturday and Sunday (October 2 and 3).

Mediclinic Victoria has teamed up with the Health department to host vaccination drives this October.

Mediclinic Victoria, at Tongaat, will offer the Johnson and Johnson single-dose vaccine from 8am to 2pm, this Saturday and Sunday (October 2 and 3).
