New bikes for the children of this Shaka’s Head cycling academy

A township cycling academy for children is overjoyed after receiving 15 bicycles from the department of sport and recreation.
Shaka’s Head resident, Goodman Manqele, runs Gxoba Istibulo Academy for cycling development where he teaches children how to ride and how to fix and take care of their bicycles.
He said the new bikes would help him in pursuing his long term dream of taking cycling to townships across KwaDukuza.
The academy was started in 2015 in Shaka’s Head with about 50 children and grows larger every year.
“With these new bikes, we will now be able to visit all 29 wards of KwaDukuza. This will be arranged with community leaders of each ward. I wish to thank all the people who have been helping us since we started the academy and I cannot describe how happy we are about the help we have received,” said Manqele.
He previously hosted a 10km cycle race in Ntshawini in celebration of Youth Day.
About 100 children and adults took part in the 10km and 40km races and his second branch was also launched.
