Weather bureau warns of thunderstorms and hail for KwaDukuza

SAWS urged people to remain indoors and avoid seeking shelter beneath trees, telephone lines and power lines.

With reports of hail at Tongaat having been received, a level 2 weather warning has been issued by the South Africa weather bureau (SAWS).

SAWS has warned that severe thunderstorms are expected, which could lead to localised damage to infrastructure, settlements and livestock.

Low lying roads and bridges are susceptible to flooding and minor car accidents are possible, warned SAWS.

SAWS also warned of hail across the KwaDukuza region.

SAWS urged people to remain indoors and avoid seeking shelter beneath trees, telephone lines and power lines.

Severe weather is predicted for today, between 1pm and 5pm.
