Ballito guest house chef stabbed to death

He was stabbed multiple times and later died at a local hospital.

A chef at a guest house in Hilary Drive, Ballito died in hospital after he was repeatedly stabbed late this afternoon.

Morné Steffans of the Ballito Neighbourhood Watch said residents apprehended a suspect at the Dolphin Coast Pre-Primary School car park after the incident.

“IPSS Security and Chapman Security arrived on the scene and held the suspect until police arrived. It is believed he was a friend of the victim and that the stabbing occurred after an argument apparently broke out,” said Steffans.

Paul Herbst of Medi Response said the 40-year-old victim was rushed to hospital in a critical condition, where he was later declared deceased.

Umhlali Saps spokesperson, captain Vinny Pillay, confirmed that an 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the murder and police are investigating.
