Stage 2 loadshedding back until Thursday

Loadshedding is being implemented from 5-10pm daily owing to a shortage of generation capacity.

Stage 2 loadshedding will take effect at 5pm this afternoon until 10pm.

It will continue at these times until Thursday.

State-owned utility provider Eskom is experiencing a shortage of generation capacity which necessitated the reintroduction of power cuts.

Currently, about 5 232MW of capacity remains out on planned maintenance, while a further 14 202MW has been lost because of breakdowns.

“We appeal to South Africans to help limit the impact of the shortages by continuing to reduce electricity usage and to switch off all non-essential items,” Eskom said in a statement.
