Miss Ballito 2022 beauties dazzle

The Miss Ballito pageant was launched 11 years ago as a fundraiser for Rotary Zimbali and has become one of the premier social events held annually on our shores.

Big, bold and brave – the popular Miss Ballito pageant is back for its tenth edition with an exciting new bevy of beauties vying for the title.

The 10 new finalists impressed the crowd with their dazzling personalities at an introductory cocktail evening at CMH Motor City Ballito on Thursday night.

Two of the five judges for the September finals, Zakhele Khumalo and Julie Cloete.

One of Chané Badenhorst, Miresha Dhani, Bwalya Gumede, Melissa Landman, Bongekile Mpathane, Natariya Murugan, Ki-Yano Schoonraad, Chantelle Souchon, Micheline Souchon, Zoe Theunissen, Shannon-Grace Thomas and Nokulunga Zikhali will take home the coveted title this year during the crowning ceremony at Collisheen Estate in September.

Miss Ballito encompasses far more than beauty alone, with contestants embarking on a number of outreach initiatives, both in the run-up to the competition and during the reign of the eventual winner.

Travis Strydom and Gabby Larsson enjoyed the event.

Miss Ballito 2021, Cikizwa Vilakazi, has gracefully held the crown in the past year and remarked on her experience during the cocktail evening.

“It has been incredible, fun and challenging all at once. Becoming Miss Ballito was a huge honour. I look forward to seeing who comes next,” she said.

“Although it has been running for 11 years, we are celebrating our 10th anniversary this year as we lost one year to Covid-19,” said pageant organiser, Heidie Smith.
