Baby boy delivered at Tongaat ATM
The woman and her baby were taken to Osindisweni Hospital after the safe delivery of the child.
A 32-year-old woman got more then she bargined for when she gave birth at an African Bank ATM in Tongaat this morning.
IPSS Medical Rescue paramedics, Simphiwe Shobede, Ntokozo Magubane and Phelelani Nxele, were called at around 8.30am to assist the woman after she went into labour on Gopalall Hurbans Road.
By the time they arrived, she was already in the process of giving birth.
“We had to lay her down, and with the help of FNB workers who covered the scene with towels, we delivered a 3.6kg baby boy, ” said Shobede, who had been working for IPSS for 10 years and had helped women deliver babies countless times before.
The mother and baby were taken to Osindisweni Hospital for further medical care.
The Courier was unable to reach the new parents for comment.
