Allowing oneself to be exposed to sex toys is strictly a private and controlled matter, usually confined to emporiums of a thousand delights.

But having an exploding pandora’s box flinging intimate gadgets and other passion enhancing thingamajigs onto your windscreen on the highway – and in the presence of your curious nine-year-old daughter – is certainly out of the ordinary.

Ask well-known local relationships author Lunga Ntuli, because that is exactly the situation he was confronted with on Saturday on the N2 near Ballito.

And it could have ended in tragedy as Ntuli, swerving to avoid all kinds of unfamiliar blunt and sharp fragments of the imagination, crashed his car.

He and his daughter were returning home to Thembeni in a happy mood after she performed well at the Rising Stars tennis tournament in Durban.

“Suddenly the car in front of me braked sharply because the vehicle in front it lost a box of sex toys. We had to swerve around the, shall we call it debris, and I lost control. My car was badly damaged but I’m just thankful we were not injured. For the record, those toys were not in my car,” Ntuli emphasised with a smile.

Ntuli is well-known for his six books on relationship advice, titled Love vs Sport, Izimpande Zempumelelo, Why Men Cheat and Women Do It Better, Single Not By Choice, The Relationship Virus and This Thing Called Love.
