Eskom rotates between stages 2 and 4 – get your Ballito, Stanger and Tongaat times here
It is hoped unit 2 at the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station will be brought back on line by Friday evening. If Eskom fails to do so or another breakdown occurs, loadshedding could be extended into the weekend.

Eskom has upgraded its stage 2 loadshedding to rotational stages 2 and 4 set to run until midnight on Friday.
A shortage of generation capacity, coupled with high demand owing to cold weather, has resulted in the increased loadshedding.
Stage 2 will take effect at 5am on Thursday (today) and run until 4pm, then increased to stage 4 until midnight. Stage 2 resumes on Friday morning 5am and concludes at midnight.
“This loadshedding will assist in recovering emergency generation reserves which have been utilised extensively to meet the increased demand over the last few days,” Eskom explained.
There have been delays in returning generation units at several power stations, as well as further unplanned breakdowns. Eskom anticipates the return to service of some units over the next few days.
