Good turnout for first Jimny meet in Ballito
After breakfast, the group joined another five Jimnys at the Mighty Men 4x4 challenge at the Seaton polo field, with some owners brave enough to test the limits of their cars.
Suzuki Jimny owners from Ballito and beyond enjoyed a group meeting and a few challenges for their quirky cars on Saturday.
Twelve of them arrived for a meet-and-greet breakfast hosted by Taso’s Bar & Grill, bonding over their shared love for the popular diminutive SUV.
“There are two reasonably big WhatsApp groups for local Jimny owners, and after being on them for a while, I proposed that we meet in person. It has become something which I often see on the roads now and it seemed like a good time to meet everyone,” said Ballito resident Gary Skinner.

He has owned two Jimnys since buying his first in 2016, enjoying the ability to modify and change them to suit his needs – mostly as a support car for his motor home when travelling across difficult terrain.
“They are almost like toys which you can modify and play with until they are just right.”

Michelle Gouws’ 1982 model was the oldest version on show, with Jimnys having been in production since 1970 in Japan.
After breakfast, the group joined another five Jimnys at the Mighty Men 4×4 challenge at the Seaton polo field, with some owners brave enough to test the limits of their cars.

Cruising through difficult obstacles, the cars proved themselves against some monster bakkies and SUVs that took on the course.
